Day 4: Most Intelligent Survivor
Yul Kwon of Cook Islands
Yul was without a doubt the true mastermind of Cook Islands. Being down 4-8, he led Aitutaki to victory, manipulating and eventually eliminating every single Rarotonga member. He was the “brains” of his alliance with Ozzy, Becky, and Sundra and was in the end, the most deserving of the million dollars.

Oh this is an easy one. Jonathan Penner.
Yeah, he’s known for being an arrogant, flip-floppy, hot-headed tool, called ”a rat”, and used as a complete pawn by Yul and the Aitu 4. But he fascinates me. He’s so articulate, well-spoken, etc. and is incredibly intelligent. He’s also an accomplished writer - something I aspire to be. His jury question to Yul, about how half-truths are just half-lies, really hit me… possibly harder than any other philosophical question in Survivor ever has. You think you have Penner figured out - his “are you fucking kidding me?” expressions, his frustrated comments about the “spoiled brats” like Parvati and Candice, his “I mean - MY ASSSSS!” moment during the immunity challenge, his flip-flopping - but you really don’t. Like when he cried when they knocked down the nest and there was a baby chick. HE PUT THE CHICK BACK AND PUT THE NEST BACK. Or when he started crying when he had to leave.
He’s awesome. And just so him. He also rocks the fedora harder than Russell Hantz could ever hope to. Speaking of that, he was acually supposed to be in HvV until dumb Russell took his spot. Ugh. But I’m actually secretly thankful for that cause if Penner was there, Parvati would’ve been the 3rd boot, and HvV would’ve sucked.
Also, for those of you that are interested, I will be putting a day of my travel diary from last year for each of the corresponding days this year. That month was amazing, literally one of the best months of my entire life so it’s no use in not sharing it :-).
